OK, What the heck is going on....

Heather Jul 30, 2003 05:50 PM

First of, I DO have a vet appointment on Saturday. I wanted to get that said right off the bat. Now, I have an orangeglow Male, about two and a half years old. He was eatting great for a while. Downing his Salad Like there was no tomorrow, His cricket were disappearing faster then I could get them in His house, and Super? Forget it, they were gone in seconds. Recently, His appitite Decreased DRASTICLY. He stopped Pooping (I asummed it was because he wasn't eatting that much) and when He did poop, It wasn't normal..... He also Has a little blood in His poop now..... I've been giving Him Baths to keep Him Hydrated. This has perked Him up quite a bit but His appitite Is still down.... What is going on???? He's also lost weight! What's wrong with My baby? What can I expect the vet to say or what can I ask to find out the problem?? He lives in a house that's 6' long, 19 inches tall and deep. Basking Temps are around 110 and Cool side is 80s at all times. Temps have NOT changed. House Has NOT changed. Diet Has NOT changed. He gets real sunlight whenever it's warm enough to take Him out (I'm in NY). His normal Salad is Collards, Turnip, Dandelion, and mustard greens. With zucchine, yellow squash, Green bell pepper, Sugar Snap Peas and a TINY bit of fruit, Mostly Blueberries, Strawberries, and Sometimes Watermelon. He gets Crickets dusted 6 days a week and not dusted once a week. Mealies every other day in His salad. What could be wrong With My Baby????

blood in the stool can be a sign of coccidia and other parasites, good that you are taking him in and getting a fecal done. Crickets can carry parasites and it will cause a decrease in appetite and lead to a drop in weight. If he is getting sunlight those days i wouldnt dust with D3, dont want to overdue it, at his age of 2 years he can get his cal w/d3 every other day, or daily some do, just not the days he is getting his natural sunlight outside. Let us know what the vet has to say, hope your dragon gets well soon
