Baby Veiled about to shed?

faust16 May 07, 2006 04:42 PM

Looks like she'd getting ready to shed, im noticing some dead skin begin to lift off around the feed and flanks. I'm coming from pythons and rat snakes where ya pretty much leave 'em to it. Is there anything special with Veiled shedding? anything i need to do?

Thanks,
Faust

If you use a humidifier or mister run it a little more often/longer; give warm mists (fill with hot water, air cools to comfy temp when sprayed). Usually it is off in a day or so. Babies can shed in a matter of hours. That's it!

Just three things, and the more experienced humans can correct me or confirm this. First, increase the humidity a little bit. This will make it easier for him to shed. Second, be sure to get the skin out when hes done. Third, when hes done, check to make sure he doesnt have little bits of shedded skin still attacked. Im not sure how to get them off if they are, i just know it can be bad if they are.

Hope this helps.

Nostrils have turned grey, she looks generally "grayer", still alert and active. Another question, do they shed off their eyes? I know pythons get "blue eye" and ya generally don't mess with them during that period, she seems alert, hungry, and beautiful, thanks for all the help.
