stuck eye cap

sn8kecrazy May 08, 2006 12:31 AM

so had a bad shed my first for having many snakes for many years. My question is if I leave it will it come off in the next shed? This snake is very shy so getting it off is going to be a pain.

any insight?

Soak him. Put a wet towel or something he can crawl through. May work good enough may not. Its a good first try anyways!

Good luck!

last month when my bp did that i tried the soaking with a towel, worked like a dream, she just had a shed yesterday and it was almost perfect just the tip of her tail was there, so i soaked her with a towel and in 20 minutes it was done......
thank you for telling me to try that last shed

my burmese had stuck eye caps

i soaked her and removed them with tweezers, but ive heard take a small peice of Duct Tape and stick it on the eyecap and pull gently.

make sure the snake is soaking either way whatever you do

hers came off with soaking and a warm wet towel

I usually soak the snake and take them off with either tweezers or by hand.

I never tried the tape method others speak of, because it just sounds too dangerous to me. Wouldn't advise it.

anyway, if you are not comfortable removing the caps manually, it wont hurt to leave them till next shed. If you give her enough humidity both caps will come off next shed.

better safe than sorry.
