Brit looking for tips on herping around Rock River, Illinois.

JaneW Jul 30, 2003 06:29 PM

I'm visiting the US for the first time next week, and will be making a visit to a friend's place on the river, near Rockford. She tells me there are loads of snakes to see there, but being new to the US, I don't know what I can expect to see, or where best to look! Any tips would be VERY welcome, please?

Try going to www.chicagoherp.org and go to the herps of illinois section. It tells what species are in what county, but dont count on it being 100% correct. It will just give you a general idea of what you will find and where to it. If you wanna make your way to Chicago, I could give some good spots.
