Green Tree Dragon

tra3 May 08, 2006 07:37 PM

Hello everyone! I think Figment is a Borneo Bloodsucker, better known as a green crested tree dragon. He will be slightly larger than a mountain horn, and his tail will be very long. I say "he" because his gular pouch is reddish, indicating a amorous male. This is my best guess. And yes, Ingo, I aways take pet shops with a grain of salt. His mate died upon delivery. He is sitting on me now as I write this. He is a nice little dragon. Very GREEN! I read an interesting article about how they are now indiginious to FL because a group of them got loose from a pet shop down there in 1978, but a lot of vactioners in asia see them perched in trees near restaurants, and have photographed them.

Olympia's eggs are doing fine, and she looks great, back on her perch. I haven't held her much, as I am letting her rest. I have scratched her little lizard head, and she responding by tilting her head and closing her eyes.

Is it common for Armatas to hang from the top of the tank? Princess is always up there, eyes closed and resting. She hangs by her two front hands. I have a heat lamp in the tank, so I know she is not trying to get get warm, and the tank is well lit.

To me it still is an Acanthosaura...

Hey Ingo. Thanks for writing! Earlier, you suggested Gonocephalus doriae. But I think Acanthosaura may be more accurate. Can you,and everyone else, take another look and help me out? Figment has a great personality. Looks like my other mountain horns, but really really lime green.

Don't know if the other post went up, so I want to mentiont that his gular pouch is different than my other dragons. Reddish and longer toward his chest. His head seems a bit smaller too, but I think he is a baby. He is a wonderful addition, and sits on me nicely. Not skittish at all.

looks like my young capra right down to the bright colored throat. The colors mute as they mature.

My capras use the top screen. I haven't seen my armatas up there yet. The armatas are quite a bit more active than the capra. Here's monroe.

I frequently find my armata on the top, but they prefer the 4 legged hang ; )

Hah Hah!
I thought she looked so funny hanging there!Never saw it before in my life.

Oh, I've seen some of mine hang like that, just not the armata yet! Even the capra usually prefer to use all 4 feet! LOL!!

Usually when I see the front foot hang it's the babies or youngsters, not the bigger animals. ; )
