What's wrong with my longtail lizard?

Dippy May 08, 2006 08:29 PM

Our female longtail lizard recently developed "swollen cheeks". There are small bumps right behind her mouth, in front of her ear holes. She seems fine, eats, and is active. She's had it 2 days now. We've had her for over a year in a 10 gallen tank with a green anole. Has anyone ever seen this before, and know what it is? Or if it is serious? Thanks!

First off, I"m not familiar enough with this tiny species to know if this is normal maturation or not... check out the other forums to find out what is normal.

Can you post pictures? I really don't have much advice, but taking it to the vet for a proper exam; something I can't do over the net. If the lizard isn't dire, and you'd like to avoid the vet for starters, than look around for a herp society in your area, and get an experienced keeper to look at it- should be able to tell you if this needs a vet or not.

Good luck.

Ian
