This girl is looking gravid after two pairings.....What do you guys think? I have yet to feel...I'd rather not....I am afraid of damaging eggs....better safe than sorry, eh?

She looks like it to me John but there's no harm in touching her. Go ahead, feel those lovely lumps. LOL

she looks plump and that's a good sign. Don't know why you would be worried about the eggs as they are extremely flexible at this stage of the game. Just hold her in your hands and let her crawl away from you with your index finger under her belly. If she's got eggs you'll feel the little bumps as she crawls out of your hands.

I once found a very fresh killed but gravid corn snake on the road in Mississippi at 4 in the morning. I took the thing home and quickly removed the egg strip from the snake with hopes of catching the egg strip at the right time and incubating the eggs. They were in tact in a very thin membrane but all connected one after the other. They had not been in the snake long enough to incubate but were well on their way...maybe a week or 10 days longer and I could've pulled it off. Anyways after seeing that I realized that a gravid snake is not as fragile as one might think.

Good luck,
Russ

Thanks Russ and Chris,
i know i should not be worried since i have palpated eggs many times. i used to feel for follicles just to count how many potential eggs there would be. the reason i decide not to this year is that i used to produce many thayeri, but the last two years i have not had the greatest of luck. i have produced some, but nowhere close to the numbers i used to. i decided to do a lot of things different this year.....including patience in every step.
And this is the reason i rather not.....not because i think they are fragile....i just don't want to risk anything......i wanna produce some nice thayeri this year is all......

And Chris.....i know you were just kidding around......LoL......
