?Snake Eye or Not?!

fattiesnleos May 08, 2006 09:53 PM

I recently noticed one of my hatchlings has two different pupils. i was wondering if anyone would possible know if its snake eye or a deformation of some kind. he eats and hunts fine. his parents were a high yellow and a patternless with no health problems. the first two pics are the strange shaped pupil and the last pic is the normal. please someone comment, thanks.
he has also never hurt this eye or anything like that.

I hate to say it but no he/she doesn't have a Snake Eye. In the snake eyes the pupil is not disfigured, but the iris of the eye is solid black. The pupil does open and close as a normal eye.

Temperature flux during incubations is the best bet as to the culprit, in your little one.

here's pictures of my double snake eyed girl.

aww i bet your girl looks really cute from the front however i thought that was called an eclipse though? maybe its an eclipse when it covers the whole eye, thats probably what im thinking of. Do you or does anyone one else know a way to hook a theramstat up to a hovabator? that is what i use. it stays pretty consistant but you never know when you leave your house @ 7 and dont get home untill 6. i worry about it constantly and wish there was an easier way so that this doesnt happen. none of the other brothers or sisters have it but there are still two more eggs remaining.

You should be able to hook the thermostat up just like you sould a tank set-up. Plug it into the thermostat, put your probe in the tank and set your temprature!

Funny you should say that! She does kind of look odd from the front.

Yes the solid eyes are Eclipse and the Half solid are Snake Eyes.

haha he is very cute. so you can hook a thermostat up to the hovabator even though it has some sort of a time device already hooked up? i dont know how they work but they do have some sort of a timed heat release and i dont know how that would affect it hooking up another electic release control?
