I keep my Argentinians on newspaper substrate. I do not keep them nearly as humid as I keep most of the other subspecies. I think both cypress mulch and aspen bedding are fine so long as you change them fairly often.

...I did not go to the Raleigh show. I have been there in the past. I have heard that recently it has been a good show. I usually sell as many of my babies as I need to at the Daytona Expo. Some years I do need to go to a couple more shows but I just have not decided which ones to attend. In the past I used to go to some of the smaller shows here in the southeast but I found that many of them were just too small to bring in enough customers. Many breeders see the same thing and are now selling more on the internet. The small shows I have been to recently had way more wheelers and dealers than breeders. I don't see how many of those traders make any money selling the junk they sell. The quality and variety of animals at a big "captive bred only" show is amazing. The quality and variety at a typical small show is disappointing. IMO there are about 10 times more shows in the US than we need. Too many small shows compete with the few good big shows and make them less than the great gatherings they should be.
YMMV,
Jeff
