ok my first question is i know there are a few people here who breed their own rats, how do you contain them? i have a male and three females in a 55 gallon tank, im thinking there has to be an easier way????

also can some one here tell me if there is a way to make your own rheostat??

I keep my rats in 3.5 colonies, inside a cement mixing tub (I think its a 40 quart)in a 5 tier rack with a drip watering system. Then I also have a brooding rack that I move the females that are about ready to drop their litters they stay in a small litter box rack (I cant remember the actual size of the tubs) until the babies are either all fed off or able to eat on their own. I have a pic of the racks (thats my oldest son in the pic, they arent hard to build Im guessing (these were given to me) but I am in need of building a new breeding and brooding rack. You can pick the tubs up at Home Depot for around $5.91 a piece. The thing is that I am replacing one about every month or 2 where they chew through it, you just have to watch for signs of chewing. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions or want more pics email me at dmacioce@columbus.rr.com Thanks

Not sure how you could build your own rehostat. If your using it for a rack system you could buy a normal dimmer switch and wire it to your set-up. If its just for one heater I would suggest buying a lamp dimmer switch. The 10 dollar one that all you do is plug it in.

Good luck!
