Getting into Ball Pythons

megan_hackbarth May 09, 2006 05:11 PM

Hello all!

I'm Megan Hackbarth and I've mostly limited my care of reptiles to colubrids and boas. I kept them for fun but I'd really like to get into the joy and business of raising ball pythons. So I just wanted to ask you guys some questions.

I've had a hard time getting a hold of a couple of breeders. Please e-mail me at rhaxma_keiji@yahoo.com if you know of someone who sells at reasonable prices with payment plans, and is easy to get a hold of. Would anyone have problems giving me this info or should I head over to another forum?

Also, what morphs do you suggest starting out with? I've considered starting with something like a pied and a couple of hets., just for an example. I know the care is the same for them, I'm just curious as to what you guys think would be the best one to get into now while its still fairly inexpensive.

All input is welcome! So are any tips of the trade that you guys might have.

Oh yes! And are there any breeders in the Iowa region? Shipping is a pain...

Hello Megan,
Anthony McCain is an excellent breeder in Iowa. You can reach him at: mccainreptiles@iowatelecom.net
If he's unable to help, but I'm sure he can.
Maybe I can at wwreptiles@core.com
Hope this helps you get started.

Thanks a lot! I've heard a lot of great things about Anthony from other breeders so I will be sure to check in with him. I've also had responses from many helpful people! Be assured that if things work out, hopefully I will have the time and funds to get involved with the rest of you in the future!
