Thanks again, another question: Gravid

star May 09, 2006 08:27 PM

Hi everyone. My Squirt girl is doing MUCH better, her eye is just fine now. Thank you so much for your advice; I'm sure you all helped save her life!

Now another question: Squirt is showing her gravid colors. She did this last year but had no eggs. I think this is another false alarm, but jsut in case: what kind of nesting box should I make for her? Does she just need a nice stack of sand, or should I put some other substrate in a cave for her or what do you reccommend?

Thanks again for all you help!

I've used a dark plastic container (tupperware?) filled with a couple inches of slightly damp sand with great success. Cut a door in one side so the lizards can get in and out. However, check it daily to make sure you're not growing mold because its too wet. You may also want to put fresh sand in there every couple days if she hasn't laid yet.

Congrats and good luck!
David
