cool hatchling rack

zach_whitman May 09, 2006 10:18 PM

I just finished building the new hatchling racks I am going to be using this year. Tell me what you think.

Each tub is 12 long, 3 wide, and 2 high. There is a groove in the along the back of each shelf housing a heat rope. Thats right BELLY HEAT! they maintain about a 10 - 16 degree gradient.

Holds 20 hatchlings in just over one cubic foot.

Haha, yeah that was me. I thought that it might have been you, a few weeks ago when you mentioned something about VT in a post. And I thought about how you were getting into theyeri, but then I just dissmissed it as coincidence. How have you been? When are you comin back up to the east?

random question I'm not sure if youd know... I was back in B town a few weeks ago and The Pet Advantage wasn't there. Did they go out or did they just move?
cheers

You know i dismissed it as coincidence also, kinda funny, me and my girl freind nikki will be back in vermont by june, we did a year in colorado but its super hard to make a living, so we are going back. the pet advantage has moved to 350 dorset street instead of 150 dorset. you gotta go past M.T Bellies Deli and its kind of near the hawthorn suites. tyler bought the building that the Net result used to be in and now the store is 1000 sq feet bigger, it looks real nice, i am hoping to get back working there when i get back, are you in VT or NJ?

wow, the coincidences just keep rolling in. Me and my girlfriend nicole will be moving back to burlington after spending this past year in Boston. I'll be back in september. I'll be sure to stop by the store and say hey.

I like the rack but it does seem slightly small. I am thinking they will grow out of it within a month or two.....

They are slightly small. But it takes more like 3 or 4 months to outgrow. Plenty of time to sell if you go through babies quickly.

I am currently trying to get some boxes made that would be 12x6x2 so that they would be interchangable and fit 2 on a row instead of 4. This way, as hatchlings get sold, you can swap out for bigger boxes on the ones that are left/ holdbacks.

Forgot to ask.....how much did it cost not including the heat and the metal grille on the back? Also what type of tubs are those?

I'm not sure how much they cost cuz I bought everything in bulk and made a bunch to use and to sell. If you were just building one the prices would be different.
