Bummer

xblackheart May 10, 2006 12:30 AM

I just tossed out 9 eggs. They were from my fist ever clutch. It was the snakes first ever clutch as well. I was shocked when she laid 21 eggs. When one went bad for sure, I cut it open, and for lack of a better description, looked like it was full of throw up. I cut one of the ones I threw away tonight and it was solid. Kinda reminded me of a little rubbery bouncy-ball.
So, I kept one I am if-fy about, but think that one is bad too. If it is, I will be down to 9 eggs out of 21. I still have my other corn's eggs (which all 16 look great), my king's 7 and the possibility of a second clutch. Not bad for a first year.

From what i have read, and what i have been told, having any luck getting them to breed and lay any eggs is good, but having good eggs is even better, and a clutch of 21 is awesome even if only 1 survives, its progress!!!! I dunno what the others posted in response, so sorry if i repeated what they said.

Thanks. I threw away the last one that was bad, the other day.
The second corn's eggs all look great. Half the first corn's, with a full clutch from the second corn and to top it off one from my king, with a second on the way is plenty for me. Thats still close to 35 eggs. For a first year, that is still great.
Thanks again for the support.
