I am a biology teacher, so I bring animals (especially snakes) into the classroom often. Here are a few things I suggest!
1. Don't have the snake out when students enter the room (if someone is phobic they may run out the door and not return-seriously! Announce once all the students are in the room that you will be taking the snake out of the bag at this time.
2. I always tell nervous students to move to the back of the room.
3. Get a feel for the snake. You know it best, so you can tell what is appropriate or not for your animal.
Good luck, let us know how it goes!
