I am a biology teacher, so I bring animals (especially snakes) into the classroom often. Here are a few things I suggest!

1. Don't have the snake out when students enter the room (if someone is phobic they may run out the door and not return-seriously! Announce once all the students are in the room that you will be taking the snake out of the bag at this time.
2. I always tell nervous students to move to the back of the room.
3. Get a feel for the snake. You know it best, so you can tell what is appropriate or not for your animal.

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

also, you might want to feed the snake at least 36 hours before bringing it in to the class. this will help prevent accidental regurge due to the handling.
