Please Help: indentation on top of head

nybuckeye May 10, 2006 10:41 AM

Hello,I am new to this forum but I was hoping someone here could help me. About a week or 2 ago I noticed a small indentation with rough edes on the top in the center of his head. I thought it might be fungal but im not sure. He is about to shed, and I am hoping it will improve. He is very active at night and dives from the vines at the top of the tank into his water dish so it might have been from that, but I am not sure. Here is a picture, I will try to get a closer one. Thanks for the help.

I recently had a rescue case of an Emerald Tree Boa that had a spot similar and it turned out to be a fungal invection. Take him to the vet and he should give you some topical cream. TAKE CARE OF IT BEFORE IT SPREADS!!!

Do you happen to know the name of the cream?

Hello,

I work with a veterinary dermatologist and she reccomended trying some lotromin because it would be safe for the snake. She told me the main active ingredient to look for is clotrimazole. It can be bought at any cvs or pharmacy. She is a small animal veterinary derm, so she was not exactly sure, but we did some research together and thats what she reccomended b/c we suspect it is a fungal infection that I realized after I increased the humidity in the tank. I will let you know how it turns out, it is lookin very good after the first day.
