help identify this dead snake

My cat happened to kill this snake in my front yard today and I am wondering what kind it was, as I am not really familiar with wild snakes in this area at all.

That is a black phase eastern hognose snake (heterodon platirhinos). They feign death when attacked or otherwise molested; are you sure it's really dead? LOL. They are common in Georgia, less so in neighboring Alabama;he did'nt get up and crawl away a few minutes later, did he? Hope this helps.

Mike nailed it. The snake does not look dead to me, either.
