Haven't herped after hail, but I guarantee the snakes and anurans will come flying out tonight. Take a cruise down 77 tonight and take your camera 'cause it's been a long time coming! I hope to get out for a spell myself, launching from Corpus.

Rain gooood, moon baaaad! Yep not one single snake on the road between Refugio and Goliad. Got a few skinks and saw some red eared sliders and gators but that was it for the evening.

Hi Todd. The heck with the moon. I think the moon phase has next to nothing to do with snake movement. I've seen just as many snakes crawling during an illuminated moon as no moon. I know lots of people rely on it but I don't bank on it at all. The reptiles aren't smart enough to know that the mammals are out on the hunt. Anyway get out there. Later.

Oh i will Steve, but with the recent rains here, not seeing at least a rat snake out smells fishy. Temps ok, moisture content there,.....? What gives? They gotta eat sometime.

Eat, mate. They need to find the time no matter what the moon is. Later.

We have had some pretty descent rains here in central texas lately, havent got a chance to go out and spend any real length of time road hunting but in the last 2 weeks I have seen 2 prarie kings 4 texas rats 2 western diamondbacks and 1 coachwhip just driving to and from work. cant wait to get out for a few hours and do some real herping!
