how will a kingsnake act when handled

Depends on where it's from and what species, ie: Speckled kings tend to be more nervous than other subspecies (until handled frequently), Eastern & Cal kings are pretty docile even when first picked up in the wild (except for an occasional musking, lol)
Is it captive born or wildcaught? Captive born snakes on average tend to be more calm then their wildcaught counterparts.

do they tend to be more like boas or gopher snakes.

Our wild caught Florida (mutts) & Brooks are usually very quick to calm. To my experience (and I have caught hundreds) less than one in ten will even try to nip when first caught. Females tend to musk more often or take a dump.

The only L. g. Getula I have caught was a prince from the word go.
