Baby Snow Dragons

Beardie01 May 10, 2006 10:15 PM

I bought four baby snow dragons that were two weeks old. I know its taking a chance with them being so young. I have them in a 20 long with a heat rock, basking spot 105 , and a uvb light. Two of them are eating real good but, one of them acts afraid of the crickets and the other one has no interest in them. Last night I gave them some 1/2 inch mealworms and they all ate them but the two I'm worried about only ate two or three. Any suggestions? Bubba

Hi congrats on youre new babies.
first dont use a heatrock for beardies.
they cant feel the heat on there tummy and then they can burn themzelf.
use a spotlight in combination with a uvb strip reptisun 5.0 10.0
hotest spot 115 110 cool side round the 80
2,3 times a day mist them .
and cricks not bigger then space bewteeen the eyes.
this must help you to get the others also on eating and growing.

i agree, do not use a heat rock, use basking spot lamps. this may be one reason some arent eating. another reason may just be them getting used to their new home. give them some time they will start to eat. try to keep some greens in there at all times until you start to see them eat. that way if they get hungry when your not there to feed them they got something to eat. make sure the crickets are small enough for them, no bigger than the space between their eyes. be sure to provide water too, misting 3 times a day and/or leaving clean bowl of shallow water in the cage.
