UVB question

kriswaters May 11, 2006 12:04 AM

Hey all,

I had a 10.0 UVB compact bulb for Pudge and Squig. The light was out side of the cage, thus I went with the higher 10.0.

The light is now in the cage, and I need to replace it. Do you think that 5.0 would be ok, or would the 10.0 hurt? I finally found a place to order online (can't find any locally).

Cage is 60" circumfrence (20" diameter) by 36" deep.

A 5.0 would be sufficient. It reaches 12" down whereas 10.0 is supposed to reach 20". Since chams spend the majority of their time in the top 1/3 of a cage the 5.0 is good. There are lots of places online to sell - lllreptile.com is having a sale you may want to check out. Right now, they are the cheapest. I will be ordering some backup (remember to change every 6 months) so did a lot of searching!

a tip: use a permanent marker to write the date put into and out of service on the end of the bulb so you know if you have any time left on one you may choose to put away.
