Been there, done that!!!
This last year I had three reluctant feeders. They went a long time (months) before I gave in and assist fed. That's where you gently pry open their mouth and insert the prey's head. If it works out, the snake then swallows on it's own. After several weeks of this, the three did pretty much get the idea and are now feeding on their own. One is doing very well, one is doing pretty good and the third is still not feeding real well but is feeding. As they have grown, so has their appetite.
I guess these three are less intelligent than the typical snake (as if that's possible) and had to be trained to eat.
First though, I would definately try live.
