"Pearl snow Brooksi" ...

ZFelicien May 11, 2006 11:23 AM

... are the pearl snow brooksi a hypomelanistic snow (3x Homozygous) or just a snow from a distinct bloodline?

i was browsing through the Probreeders photo gallery and came across a "pearly snow" brooksi, and i'm just wondering if it's more than just the axanthic and lavender genes at work?

in other animals like hondurans i've heard someone referring to a "hypo-Snow" as a pearl so is it the same with the brooksi,

Thanx

I have always had decent luck emailing Steve Osborne with questions about his animals, I am pretty sure he would tell you what you'd like to know.

I always thought it might have just been different lines. I have a pair of yearling pearl snows. They're not pearly yet, but they look very different from my type II yearling snow. I'll try to get a comparison pic up. I think if there's any weird phenotype combinations in snows, it would be from the snows that were produced from sulfur x lavender breedings. (Then the animal ends up being homozygous for sulfur, lavender, and axanthic.)

Zenny

I asked this same question of Tim Ricks (the originator of this line) and I can't for the life of me remmmeber what he said. HA HA HA HA!

Basically saying if it was something REAL different I would have remembered.

The only difference in the "pearl" snow and the "glossy" snow is the axanthic gene. One is made with the black and white axanthic. The other is from the blue axanthics.
thanks
