L. g. holbrooki?

Venom_Within May 11, 2006 11:31 PM

I asked earlier about crosses dealing with L. t. triangulum, and it seems that no one has really tried them yet. Now I'd like to see if anyone has tried crosses with the Speckled King, L. g. holbrooki (not just intergrades with L. g. splendida in Texas, but actual hybrid crosses).

Thanx for looking!

A cross with alterna was a base cross for alot of work done by Brent Green & HDEAN you can see some of the results at Henry's site....look for multi crosses with holbrooki alterna as part of the heritage....I believe that a very strange type of T amelanism or hypomelanism popped up out of these later and made some knockout animals...

And to the triangulum....
There was a guy locally that I think produced some triangulum x elapsoides offspring...it wasn't as easy as you would believe seeing as how that cross is responsible for creating a huge expanse of intergrades from MD to NC....at least the latest DNA work seems to prove this. Strange how they intergrade in some regions and in others (N.GA, S.KY, N.AL) they occur sympatric state?

I used to visit Henry's site daily about 3 years ago. I couldn't get enough of the animals he'd created. Lately, though, it seems as if he took away all of the awesome pictures to leave us with only 4 hybrid pics... Maybe I didn't dig through the site deep enough and he's just moved them...

Thanx for the reply, though!

Steve Mitchner here in OKC bred L.g.holbrooki x L. caligaster several times and called them "Caligula". Steve is now out of snakes and I don't know if the cross has ever been duplicated but, I seen them with my own eyes so, I know they happened.
