Eastern coachwhips

KevColubrid May 12, 2006 12:21 AM

Hey all, I'm from Missouri, and was just wondering where exactly in Missouri the eastern coachwhip is most common? I've lived here my entire life and never seen one, and I'd love to find one in the wild as they're an incredibly cool snake. Thanks.

Missouri should have a comprehensive field guide for reptiles. There should be an accounting from each county. I would start there. I would be interested in finding one from the farthest north in their range.

Yeah, I own the field guide, it's a good one. They're mainly a glades species, I guess more common in southeast Missouri. Sighthunter, have you ever kept the easterns? I've heard they're usually more tempermental than the westerns.
