i know its a box turtle i think its a ornate just want to make sure and i would like to know if its male or female

Looks like ornate to me. I can't tell from that photo if it's male or female. Can you get a picture of the plastron & the tail?

It looks like a female ornate or desert box turtle to me. The location where you found the turtle will give you an idea of if it's a desert or ornate. It looks more like an ornate to me, but they can be tricky to differentiate. Male ornata typically have a green head, red eyes, a concave plastron, larger tails, and the inner toes on the hind feet turn inward. Female eye color can vary, as does head color. A female's plastron should be relatively flat, and her inner rear toes should not turn inward. Also, female ornates tend to clean their enclosures more often...just kidding.

Arrggghh I agree with every word Ken said here, the plastron looks ornate to me but the tail photo is a little iffy for me. It's an awfully long tail for a female but a little thin looking for a male.. can you get one more with the back legs in view as well?
It's true though females do clean their enclosures more often.
