Embryo Development?

boomslang2050 May 12, 2006 10:33 AM

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knew where I might find a embryonic development chart for colubrid snakes. I've searched the web with no luck. I wanted to know at exactly what point can you see an obvious embryo through candling. I know in birds you can sometimes tell within a week (if you know what your doing). Any help would be appreciated. Also how do you post pictures?????

I don't know about actually visualizing the embryo, but you can see red blood vessels on a fertile egg after just a day or two. You can see a darkened spot where the little emryo will be after about a week. Also, developement in snake eggs is not as predictable as in chickens because they respond differently depending on variable conditions.

to post photos, start a photo gallery at this site. When you go to post, you can just select those images at the bottom.

The embryo and sac are present when the eggs are laid, with kingsnakes. Cheers
