LTC Female Flower Back

schroderal May 12, 2006 04:09 PM

Hi,
I thought I would share a photo that I took today of my female Flower Back. I have had her for approx. seven years. She started off as a picky eater (just pink mice). Now she has a huge appetite, and will eat rats (pinks to smalls), mice (pinks to jumbos),giant mealworms, superworms, beatles, fruits, veggies, canned cat food, commercial aquatic and tortoise foods. I think these turtles are great.
Thanks
Alan

Congratulations! They are a very hard species to keep. You should try to get a male for her, or let her breed with someone else's male. Captive breeding of this turtle is important due to their scarcity in the wild. Great job!
