Leopard Gecko Eggs

BRITTANY23 May 12, 2006 05:10 PM

I am new to leopard gecko breeding and I was wondering if an egg molds does that mean it is no longer good? And can the mold spread to other eggs in the container? and anyother advise or information is welcome as well. Thanks!

If I've learned anything about reptiles, it's to never give up on an egg! Depending on your situation, you may want to sacrifice it to save other eggs, but it's not necessary. The mold present on it, is likely present everywhere in the incubator, so removing it won't do much.

For the individual egg, just keep watching it. Very dilute betadine can be painted on (egg should not be moist when done) as a last resort. A lot of people say it should not be done, but many others have found it helps. I've never needed to use it so have no first-hand experience with it.

Good luck

Ian
