Bryan,

I really don't like the image composition, It would of been better I think if the head was sitting on top of the coils. The head is also in shadow, A flash would of highlighted the facial features of the grey band.

I disagree. I like the composition. Not your typical snake photo. A flash would have definetely made the snake more shinny as well. Nice grayband!

It was probably shot at f5.6 or thereabouts. Minimal zoom, so I still got some depth of field.
