Eggs going bad?

shewolf Jul 30, 2003 09:55 PM

I have a batch of eggs that are day 24 in the incubator. This is a cross between a proven Miami female and a first time Creamsicle male. Got 16 eggs, 12 looked good but I put them all in the incubator. Of the apparent slugs, some are starting to grow the fuzz, but they are not collapsing. They are full and appear to be getting bigger like the good eggs. I am a bit confused. Should I get rid of these guy? We had a week of well over 100 degrees and the room temperature got over 90 for a few of them. Two of the "good" eggs are starting to collapse and grow the green fuzz. The fuzz I have kept at bay with Listerine. Any and all suggestions are
very much appreciated. Maybe just watchful waiting??? Thanks loads.

90 F and a bit over is no problem for corn snake eggs as long as they can cool off at night. Personal experience.

I don't expect fuzz to grow on healthy eggs incubated with the standard 1:1 by weight ratio of Vermiculite to water. Mold is more likely when conditions are too wet. What materials and medium to water ratio are you using?
