My 1st Crestie

Dani_Girl May 13, 2006 07:30 PM

A couple quick pics I just snapped of my crested gecko. I've had him/her for a month and a half. He's about 3.5 months old. I took him outside to take a couple quick pics (any I take inside are horrible) just as I finished up he took a leap into nowhere and fell apprx 4 ft down onto my back steps, I felt HORRIBLE but he seems fine. I'm used to him jumping suddenly, but I can usually tell before he pounces, and he's never jumped into open air before. Believe me I've learned my lesson with him, any future pics will be from about a foot off the ground.

Good choice on your first crestie. He/she is a beauty! It has a lot of creamsicle characteristics which are absolutely stunning. I hope you are planning on breeding him/her down the road.

Thanks, I thought he/she was a beaut too. Yes I do plan on breeding as soon as I know if it's a male or female. I'm hoping to get to either the September or November Reptile show here to pick up a mate. I'm not sure what I'm going to look for in the mate to this little one, but I'm sure something will catch my eye.

I know his/her colors still may change a bit as it's only 3.5 months old, but looking at it now, does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for when I go to get a mate for breeding?? I'd like to produce some decent or different looking babies.

Not sure if it is completely visable in the pic, but he/she also has some dalmation spots, some brindling, and a bit of pinstriping I think...

You're not too far off from a creamsicle there. The orange looks decent, and the flame is definitely creamy. If you can find a mate that would help add more "cream" to the head and dorsal area, you would have something that would definitely be marketable.

Got this little one from my local breeder that I got my snake from up here in Ontario, he was an impulse buy and he was only 2 months old- I'm very happy with that impulse They just started into crested gecko themselves. I showed them the pics the other week when I was there picking up food, they couldn't believe the colors either.
