A question about hatch times...

jag May 14, 2006 09:08 AM

I was wondering what was the longest someone ever had some eggs in the incubator and they hatched? I have had mine at 89-90 degrees for 65 days now and nothing. I have candled them and they look good. Any thoughts/concerns?

That is starting to be a looong time!
You might think about slitting them to take a peak.
If they've been at that temp for that long, they
should be as developed as they are going to be.
Slitting them, if done proper, won't harm them at all.

Good luck.

I've had a clutch take 70 days. Just a couple degrees cooler can adds days, even weeks to the incubation period. Like Chris said, at this point they should be fully developed and you can carefully cut a small window or flap on the upper most surface of the egg.
Cut a small opening or V shaped flap that will let you lift up the flap and peek inside. Keep fluid loss to a minimum and do not pull them out. Let them come out on their own.
