How can I create a cliff face in my ter.

animalmenagerie May 14, 2006 07:17 PM

I have a bearded dragon and he, once he grows, will have a multi-level enclosure. I need to find a way to create a natural-looking cliff face that would act as a ladder to the other level. I was looking at the expanding foam stuf, but is there a way i can stick flat sones horizontally into that to make it look more natural? I am using those rep-tiles to create it, but if i strictly used those it would take so many of them. I need some filler material.

Another thing is what color are rocks in the outback? i have outback sand and was wondering what the natural color of it in the wild.

Making the background out of "great stuff" would be a good idea. I have made a bunch of cages using this, but all have been ropical, no desert ones. This is how you do it"
1. tilt the tank so it's on it's back
2. get: great stuff, GE black silicone II, tiles, dirt/sand
3. put the tiles or driftwood in place and then spray the great stuff around them until you like it.
4. wait like 24 hours
5. use gloves to put the silicone on in small areas and put the sand/dirt/whatever substrate on the silicone so all the areas w/ great stuff is covered with a substrate.
6. wait 24 hours and then vacuum off the access, there probally will be areas where you can see the great stuff so just put some more silicone and substrate on those areas. you may have to do this a few times.

* Wear gloves!!! i didn't the first time and the great stuff makes you hands sticky and it literly doesn't come off for a week.
