Few pics from southeast AZ

Chip Cochran May 15, 2006 10:02 AM

Just figured I would quickly throw up some recent pictures from down here in Southeast AZ. First is of a female Arizona black rattlesnake (Crotalus cerberus) that had 6 follicles. The next 3 are of a male cerb. And last is a little male juvenile Lyre snake (Trimorphodon biscutatus, a rear fanged species we have here)

Female

Male

Juvenile Trimorphodon biscutatus
disclaimer (I know some people that frequent here are not from the states and may not know Lyre snakes so before I get flamed for free handling I want to just clarify that they are not considered dangerous and their bite (usually they don't bite) causes local numbing occasionally)

Very nice Chip. I especially admire the Lyre. I'll be staying in Bisbee the first week of August in order to catch my share of your monsoons and chase insects. AZ's rather draconian laws limit herping, but I stop to prevent DORs. We love that corner of the state! Thanks for the post.
