Repellant Spray for feral Ctenosaura

kevinschneider May 15, 2006 10:46 AM

The town of Boca Grande is looking for someone who has done research on Ctenosaura to develope a spray with scent that repells Ctenosaura from traveling across the sprayed area.....spray needs to be non toxic to plants and animals so they can spray around the Gopher Tortoise habitat on the island and use to confine iguanas to certain specified areas of the island.........predator scent based or nesting female scent based is the only thing I could think of........has anyone done any research on what scent would repell a Ctenosaura as there would be a contract offered for any wildlife researcher who developes such a spray for residents and business communities of Florida and Gulf Coast......and there woiuld be the private sales from a copyrighted repellant......for more information on this you can contact the Boca Beacon directly at www.bocabeacon.com

Thanks

Dont get to hung up on head aches......really no time for them as they are not solution oriented......... commumities in Florida are haveing diffculties with iguana and monitor lizard populations becomeing feral and competeing with indegenous species and Melissa Kaplan has already researched the repellant spray for iguanas and has posted it on her website.....gee instead of getting a headache a couple of hours of research on the internet got the answer......it is 4 cloves of garlic and 4 red peppers thouroughly reduced to mash in a blender and then added to a bucket or gallon of water....strength needs to be experimented with for barrier to property and then lighter mixture of spraying on plants and garden.........can be sprayed with fertilizer can and garden hose on areas to repell iguanas from entering.......The reason the question was asked in the first place is because I was asked for a repellant spray for Boca Grande residents as a remedial measure that would not include shotgunning for Iguanas.......instead of getting headache the Melissa Kaplan site gave the answer
