Amputation photo

The very first thing I was told when I started with these dragons, was that they are fragile, that I needed to de worm them, that I needed UV lights, I was told that otherwise they would die. Well I own quit a few dragons now, and have only lost one due to a tumour, all others are doing very well, all are wild collected and none have been treated for parasites, I keep all my dragons with regular 25w bulbs, NO UV’s whatsoever.

This is my only male Sumatran, I got him even though he had a broken leg and almost dead, I got him feeding regularly for a few weeks, then proceeded to amputate his leg above the knee, this was yesterday at 5 am, this afternoon he is feeding as usual from my tongs.

For those thinking these are fragile lizards, think again you basically need a hammer to kill them, or bad husbandry will do that too.

What a pair I got, broken jaw female and a tripod male, should I ever get eggs from this pair and hatch them, I will be a very proud keeper.

Ps. He was amputated with the use of a nail clipper, his knee was so infected that the operation was virtually painless.

Even though I dont find it very funny...

"For those thinking these are fragile lizards, think again you basically need a hammer to kill them"

- Or you can cut off their legs with nail clippers and knowingly deny them essential lighting.

...That zip-tie is going to do more damage than benifit.
