sometimes the hardest lessons to learn are the ones that you have to learn from your own mistake,id take her to the vet to get some antibiotics and if you absolutely HAVE to leave a mouse in the tank leave some food in there with it JMHO,keep us posted

Thanks....

I pride myself in making sure my animals are taken care of. Having something like this happen, even though its the first time ever for me, it still hits home. The mouse was a hopper too. Just never saw it coming...

She will be just fine, but every time I open that cage it will be a reminder for me to say the least.

Thanks for the advice too.

I think that wound will need more than neosporin, thats a deep wound.I think shell neeed antibiotics

I grew up around reptiles and pits. She will be well taken care of. Just a good bite and a lesson learned the hard way for both of us. For her, "If it bites you kill it and eat it".....for me "some babys dont like to fight".........

it's a shame it happened but don't beat yourself up over it. i'm sure she'll be ok. i doubt you'll make that mistake again.

This is why I watch the snake, and if she doesn't take it within 20 minutes, I kill the mouse and put it back in the tank.
Generally she will take prekilled, but sometimes she is fussy.

I usually drop a piece of dog food in with the mouse WHEN I HAVE to feed a mouse. I usually feed rat pups, they are the same size as a mouse but rats usually don't bite when they are PUPs. Thanks David

I am very sorry to hear that. Any time i ever leave a mouse in with a fussy feeder or a new baby i also leave a piece of lab block in with the animal, and make sure the mouse was hydrated before being feed to any snakes. I have never had a problem with snakes and mice with food in the cage. Just a thought.. I am sorry again. I have seen worse and she should heal though with a little TLC and some neosporin
