A question about hatchlings.....

jag May 15, 2006 09:57 PM

Just a question. First off sorry to sound like a rookie. I have only ever bred Leos, and this is a little different.
My question is how long does it take a baby ball to emerge out of the egg once it has started to pipe? I have had one kinda come out and then go back in the egg. Any help would be nice.

usually a day or so is normal, two at most in my experience.

I agree with tom the hatchling is actually absorbing the yolk sack in the 1-2 day period so just let him come out on his owm and place him on a MOIST paper towel to help with the umbilical cord from getting to dry and snagging.I personally DO NOT put my hatchling on anything but dry paper towels (after the umbilical cord falls off) until the umbilical cord hole COMPLETELY heals
