Prepare to be shocked, I was!!

thebigsquease May 15, 2006 10:48 PM

Last night, I checked in on some hatching eggs. Three clutches of normals. All looked fine, until I got to the third clutch.
I saw something that didn't seem right. Very odd looking...
Naturally, as I was looking at it, He/she pulled itself back in the egg. So I waited, and looked again an hour later... got a 2 second peek. This went on until 3am in the morning. I woke up and check on this egg at 9am. It was half way out. All I could say was WOW. It wasn't until later in the afternoon, that it finally came the rest of the way out. With fully charged batteries, I took a few pics.
Background information on the clutch: Came from a WC gravid female from Ghana. Four eggs, this one is out, the other three are piped, all noses look normal... so far...
Any idea what it is?? Oh, it's a female.....
I welcome any suggestions or comments.

Hi Ron,
Congratulations on hatching out an incredible looking animal. I wonder why almost every time someone hatches out some incredible new Morph it is almost always a Female. No matter what you do it will take at least two times longer to prove out. LOL That said, I sure would like to be in your shoes.

I wish you the best of luck with her,
Albey

The list that you just put my name on for the first clutch that she hatches. I would like one pair of hets. I am officially asking right now to be on the list for the first clutch that you offer for sale. Please put my name on the list.

Sincerely, Kyle

because I say that is genetic. That looks different from a jungle. That is in my opinion a unique animal and more than likely genetic.

That is the coolest looking snake I have ever seen...
and I want one!

Never know what those wild caught gravids are going to hatch out next do we?
Perhaps we will see more of this kind pop up.

Do you think it's a mutation of the pastel gene?

I'd be tempted to keep the entire clutch to see if any of the others carry those genes. Looks like a pastel with a really different pattern variation.

What great luck!

I know i'm new to BPs, but doesn't that look an awful lot like a spider? I have been trying to figure out how to tell the difference between certain morphs that i see, and all i can see is something that is a few shades different, except for the big morphs that are obvious, like super cinny's, pieds, spiders, etc...anyone willing to help me out here?

A spider would have white all along the bottom of it coming up the sides. no matter what it is she is a hot little snake...

good luck again, Harold

coldbloodaddict May 16, 2006 01:41 PM

The biggest similarity I see in the two are the reduced "alien eyes".The Spider has white, yellow and orange flecking on the bottom of the sides. It also has reduced black. The pattern is gold/tan color. The Spider has an unusual head pattern. Here are a couple of pics, not the best but hope you can see the difference. Jon

AJCrader May 16, 2006 02:44 PM

no is it possible that this is a pastel spider? and because of the pastel it has a diminish spider pattern?

She's really pretty whatever she is. A pastal reduced pattern jungle?

Very odd facial markings too...I really thing you should box her up after she has a few meals and mail her to me up here in Canada.

SPJ01 May 16, 2006 02:39 PM

Awesome animal!

RaulGomez May 16, 2006 03:46 PM

The odds of that snake being genetic are slim. Here are the reasons why:

1. It looks premature... smaller than normal and its head has that premature "look" to it. Premature babies tend to be "different" in color and pattern.
2. The egg it was in didnt look too healthy. I have seen very weird babies hatch out of moldy dying eggs. Might have had a dead twin in there that never got going...
3. It came from a gravid import. The stress the females go thru during shipping does have a negative effect on the eggs. Changes in temps also can do weird things to the developing babies. Remember than once a snake lays the babies are already developing inside. Thats why there are veins ect in the eggs.

That baby looks amazing and I hope I am wrong and it is genetic. But just like jungles and most ringers I feel like you have a non genetic oddity.

Good luck
Raul

nerd_inc May 16, 2006 11:15 PM

It looks like an AWESOME genetic reduced. They have the area in front of the eye lacking black. It is absolutely an extreme looking animal! The color is quite soemthing.

Does the adult female lack the black stripe just in front of the eye?

Wow, someone seems bitter. Whats with the negative attitude?
People keep saying it is just a jungle, that snake is not even the same sport.

Very nice snake, hope it proves out.

-Grant

happysurgeman May 21, 2006 02:58 AM

sorrye if the post seemed negative. but its positive i said those thing because it would be extremely unlikely to hatch out that animal and have those things happen to you in a lifetime.

BChambers May 17, 2006 01:04 PM

...is the name that leaped out at me immediately-just look at the expression on her face, plus the fact that it was a crazy, random occurence lol.

I too believe it will prove genetic, and let me be next on the list for het offspring. CONGRATULATIONS on a fantastic animal!

tailswithscales May 17, 2006 03:27 PM

Does anyone know??? Is it a new morph? Whatever she is, she is the most stunning animal I've ever seen.

Are you going to breed her back to her father?

Thank you so much for sharing.

I would call it a Tiger Ball, right color, and has the markings of a Tiger. OR, since it looks like a Bumblebee (Spider x Pastel) I would call it a YellowJacket, or Hornet Ball.

NICE

Dave

happysurgeman May 21, 2006 03:01 AM

i can see it now.... move over bumble bees....

Hornet Ball.
