My Male

triniian May 16, 2006 12:20 AM

Finally!

These aren't the greatest pics in the world, but at least you guys can see what I am working with.

This is Ying. He is stunning. He has great orange coloration to him and he is so tame. He's like an inquisitive puppy... loves to explore and isn't very shy or nervous.

He's clearly the best looking BRB I have ever seen in person (doesn't say much) and he's definitely re-ignited my passion for these beauties.

He's about 30" long.

Now the other half of this collection is starred by Yang. She's quite larger for being of roughly the same age. Her digestive system is on a rampage, after one day, the lump from a large mouse was completely gone. It's about time to move her to the other member of the rodent family.

She's much more nervious and secretive than Ying and has been receiving most of my attention towards handling. Where as Ying will explore then hang out, this girl is always bolting. I have seen tremendous results in these last 5 days, going from hissing to accepting.

She's just a good 'ole normal, and pales in comparrison to Ying. It would great to see her become red as she ages, but she's just a fine as she is.

She's approx 34".

I house them together for the moment in a 55gl wide ( 40"x20"x20" ) setup. It's crazy that they nearly match the length of the enclosure, but at 20" wide and 20" tall, there is tons of room to hide. I have 6 different hides in their tank with the substrate 40% mixed mosses and 60% cypress mulch.

The hot end rests at 84 and the cool end at 72. Ying prefers it warm... for the whole week he's only been in one hiding spot, while Yang loves to change it up. Looking for her becomes a challenge and I almost have to complete empty the tank to track her down.

In the future I will get a second home to seperate them and will hopefully graduate to a neodesha or something of that style.

Babysteps...

Any way, I am back in action, happy as ever and couldn't look for two better masters anywhere.

Thanks for looking!
