I'm breeding cornsnakes for the first time. This is a learning experience for me and I hope to use the information to develop a breeder's business in the next year.
I have two females and I believe them both to be gravid. Both are putting on substantial weight this month (20% or so).
My question is:
Do the scales around a female cornsnake's midsection lay flat when they have eggs, or do they stick out from her body?
Both females have sections of snakes that are not flat against their abdomens, and I find this unusual, especially since my males do not have this.
I tried to take pictures of the scales, alas I have a poor digital camera, and the scales are out of focus.
Anyone who can help explain this to me will e greatly appreciated.
