Petrii gecko info please

arcreya May 16, 2006 08:27 PM

Hello,
Just aquired a quartet of Stenodactylus petrii. Can't find too much info on the net about them.

I have them set up all together in a 24" X 12" enclosure, on extra fine sifted sand, with a four tiny hide boxes, some rocks, fake plants and a shallow water dish. Their basking spot is about 95, and the rest of the tank is about 85. I have been feeding them 1/4 inch crickets.

Any info on this species would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Sounds like you have everything just right.Make sure you mist them once a day. They will lay eggs in the sand, babys will hatch out right in the tank. They will be just fine with the adults. When you see babys just make sure you put in pinheads crickets and or flightless fruit flys for the babys.

Two more questions: Do the Petrii geckos need UVA/UVB lighting? Are they nocturnal?

These guys are really neat, they have burrows all over their enclosure already.

Thanks!
