So the moment has arrived. The snakes I've waited years for are finally here, they arrived this morning, two BEAUTIFUL red coachwhips, the female is about three feet long, the male is about four. Both still have a little bit of banding left on them, along with that beautiful red hue. I'm very excited, I'll be posting pictures soon. So far, neither has made any attempt to bite me, though I'll admit, I was totally unprepared for how fast these snakes actually are. They're literally like a bolt of lightning. But I love how active, energetic, alert, and intelligent they are, they're so interested in what's going on around them. Plus, the way they hold their heads about a foot off the ground when they're slithering around is awesome. I'd love to see what they could do with some open ground, though I'm not going to chance losing them in my house. I'll be posting pictures soon.
