there are tons of cats and dogs loose in south florida streets that where let loose by "irresponsible" and "impulse buyers" they are invasive species and can create great harm to native animals and plants as well as small children.

This is a Crisis People! dont we all know soemone that has been bit by a dog? these animals mature fast sometimes reproducing several times a year.

I say we ban the sale of cats and dogs in south florida.

I agree, and while we are at it:

Let's just ban the irresponsible humans and fix the actual problem once and for all.(Just spade/neuter and release.lol)

Your just re-infecting the populous.............they shoudl just collect all the irresponsible owners and destroy them just like they do with the "bad animals" that just seem to be doing whtn they only know how to do......

SILLY HUMANS!!!!

i don't think he cares if they learn... lol
(they never will anyway)

All i'm saying is...lure them into a hospital for free whatever...then...chloroform/iv drug/surgery/free cab ride home/then they wake up at the door...

You're right actually. The damage they will continue to do isn't worth letting them go anyway...

i've recently been seeing a small tribe of pits running the streets here in town too...they looked so happy...really hungry etc,but free so they are happy.(I'm sure they were for fighting, nobody keeps a loved pet so poorly as they all looked.)

it's worse than them being ignorant really...it's apathy on their part

This is not the first time this has been proposed......but if things keep on going the way they have been........with Viscious alligator attacks and all and then all this negative publicity from the press about "WILD MAN EATING PYTHONS" in the everglades....etc.... and you know where this will lead. FIrst comes banning the sale of snakes from stores......then comes the outright ban of them in the State as a whole.......and dont think it cant or wont happen one day...

Look at Homeowners insurance now in the state.......If you keep Large Boas or Pythons in your home....even if it's just 1 cute little snake you raised from a baby......You are not covered by your homeowners, because the snake is a threat to a child.....even if you dont have any and they are never in your house(children).........

Time for the community as whole to stand up for your/our/my rights.

A ban on petstores selling iguanas and other large reptiles may not be a bad thing. If irresponsible people can't get these pets from petstores, who tend to have no clue or the wrong information about the proper care and adult size of these animals, then maybe they won't buy them at all, as driving to another city or state to get them would be too much effort.

Most of the abandoned repties tend to be ones that grow too big for the owners to deal with. Or they don't realize how to properly socialize them when young or they are just not 'fun' anymore, they dump them, as they get big. There is nothing mentioned in that article that indicates qualified breeders can't sell them or bring them in from elsewhere to sell them to the public. If all breeders become more responsible in telling the right info (and most due) to prospective buyers, the ones who can't handle a big animal may not buy the cute little green iguana that can reach lengths of over 5' or burmese pythons with their heafy 20' size, may go for the easier to manage and just as 'cool' looking bearded dragons and ball pythons.
