Had some qouestion about outdoor enclousures. Just playing with this idea right know but I am re-doing our backyard/fence this summer and would like to add some sort of outdoor herp enclousure. So now to my question. I live around Dallas, Texas (in the suburbs) and it can easily get down to the high 20's to low 30's in the mid winter (air temp). If their burrow was heated subterraneanly using heating cable to stay at about say 50F-60F give or take a bit during brumation, would they be alright? Winter last about four months from late november to late feburary with sporadic very cold spells, then it quickly warms to an average in the high ninties in the summer, with over a 100F common, usually weekly. Moderate humidity is usual also. If the burrow was kept underground/shaded and cooler during the summer would that help them escape the heat? So basically my questions really is would they survive well and thrive in these conditions. Thanks a ton. (Posted this in BD enclousures and BD general)
