eastern brown snake

smith710 May 17, 2006 10:49 PM

I just went out and caught an eastern brown snake today. I've read as much as I could about them and I am currently feeding him worms and slugs. What else could I feed it and what are some things you know about them that I may not know (I couldnt find much...)
Thanks

All I know about them is that I occasionaly find them while flipping in upstate NY and they used to be called Dekays Snake. They range in size from 9 to 13 inches and will do just fine on worms and slugs. Also depending on your locale, what you have is either a northern or midland brown snake. If you had an Eastern Brown you would have an extremely venomous Australian snake. I've found it best to keep the small woodland species of snakes for about a week or so to observe them, then release them where I found them. In fact I catch and release all native species of snake I come accross with the exception being if I find a eastern milk, black rat or eastern hognose. Even then I'll only keep them if I find a juvenile. I let all adults go.
