happysurgeman May 17, 2006 11:37 PM

Ive been told many deformities, bad clutches and kinked tales come from AlbinoxAlbino and other Recessive traits paired together.

is this true ?

This is an effect of inbreeding, usually for a a recessive mutation to appear brothers and sisters and parents ar usually interbred. This can also make other genes appear that are in that family, like kinked tails and such, which normally wouldn't occur if bred outside the family.

I produced this Albino female last year by breeding Albino x Albino. All the babies were fine. Jon

They can't get more than two albino genes so an albino from albino X albino is no more albino than one from a pair of hets or even a pair of possible hets that proved.

There should be plenty of unrelated albino lines by now and of course you could breed het albinos together that were siblings and have way more inbreeding than a random albino pair.

It's always possible that the nature of a morph might make the female more likely to produce poor quality eggs but I haven't heard that with albinos.
