I just captured a Crotalus cerastes cerastes and i was curious as to what size to build an enclosure for it. or would an aquarium do?

It would probably take as much effort to make an aquarium take safe & secure for a venomous snake as it would to build a cage. Smaller than this would would probably do, but I'd go with 24" long, 18" wide & 18" high.

I gave mine a bit bigger than it needs because I like watching him move around the enclosure. I never recommend an aquarium for venomous just too hard to make them secure and the pieces never fit flush on the tops. I dont use them for anything anymore too many escapes.

I know others may not agree with this but I keep a young winder in a 10 gallon. The enclosure has a very tight fitting screen slide top that has a firm clasp in the back and a place for a pad lock in the front. So far it seems to work very well.

How big is the snake....?
Usually like 20 gal. long size 30"x12" will do okay....
But I would not recommend using an aquarium... too much of a hastle to make secure and once it is secure, too difficult to get into to maintain.

I would just build one. It might be a little more time consuming but like everyone else has said its would be safer, and easier to secure. Depending on the materials you use it could come out to be cheaper too. Plus you can make it the way you want and add stuff to it easier. Do you have a pic of the snake? If so I would like to see. I am sure everyone else would to. SSR.

There is nothing I hate more then a person buying a snake or any animal for that matter and not doing research and relizing what they are getting themselves into. Because of people like that we have such strict reptile and animal laws and they are ruining it for everyone. Not doing research is totally unacceptable and with the internet is super easy to do. There is just no excuse for that!!!
