A picture of the sandwich thief, Sobek...

SHvar Jul 31, 2003 02:27 AM

Her appetite is good wow! I was at a friends delivering some hissers and I had Sobek with me. I was eating a turkey sandwich and she climbed my leg so in the process of getting her to go to the floor again she reached up and took half of my sandwich. I in no way intended her to eat any but she just took it before I could put it on a plate. Last night she ate a whole egg (once in months she gets one), today she had 2 jumbo mice, yesterday she ate 8 hissers and 4 chicken peeps, I let her go a few days before that because she had a week old chicken peep (12 inches and 5 ounces) plus 4 hissers.

No reason to be shy with them and offer so rarely. They love them, and they are a great food item. I offer my animals hard boiled eggs once a week or so. I alternate my food items between rodents, balute, eggs and chicken parts. Crayfish when available. When they were small, I would scramble eggs and mix with vitamins and calcium suppliments, crickets, turkey, or other food items.
How much do you pay for the chicks? I haven't tried these yet - maybe soon. How big is Sobek?

Best Regards
Jim

I get the chicken peeps from rodentpro, the big week old ones (5-8 ounces each and 12 inches long about 3 inches across the hips). I get day olds for both albigs from a place called Holmes farms with the business I purchase for wholesale price, but rodentpro sells them for 29 cents each. Ive always noticed albigs love eating birds over alot of other foods. Sobek was measured yesterday for the first time since surgery with a suprise to me at her new length (started growing again) of 5 feet 8 inches. Shes recovering from surgery so quick her new skin and scales are grown back under the stitches in just about 3 weeks time. Shes doing great eating like a pig and gaining some weight back.

I just got some chicken peeps from rodentpro that my wt totally devoured when offered to him.He had never had them.Must have been a real treat, cause he ate two(after eating a small rat) and was still waiting for more....Glad to see Sobek is having a rapid recovery.

Next thing you know, she'll be wanting you to stop by "Subway" on the way home.
